I was just wondering if stainless steel could be used to replace the copper? Anyone know?

I don't know if my wick is oxidized well enough but it doesn't seem to be shorting anywhere, at least I don't think so. What happens when you get a short?
It was suggested that I trim off 3mm of wick to make it thinner but I don't know how to do that when it's oxidized. I don't think it will unwrap with all that charcoal stuff on it. I haven't tried that yet or re-wrapped my wick. Hopefully I'll get to that today.
Again, I'm using 400 ss mesh and it has been wicking fine until now. Now I get 1 good hit and then it's burnt and I'm not getting good flavor even on a good hit. Still haven't thinned my juice yet either. Been busy. Hopefully today.

I would like to know this also and how to get the electrodes out to put new ones in.

Ok, here's what I've done today.
Trimmed off wick to make slimmer, thinned juice, sanded electrode to clean gunk off, reoxidizes at least 10 time with ejuice and rewrapped coil. Now I'm not getting any resistance at all. What am I doing wrong? I haven't put it on a PV in case there is a short. I don't know what will happen if it's shorted somewhere.

Casey I wish I could help you but I think Jolly has made these himself and has more in-depth knowledge than I do. I am guessing you are getting no reading on your multi-meter.
BTW you are the reason I asked about the stainless steel as I was thinking about SS sewing needles or hypodermic needles to replace the copper in your genesis. I was also looking at a thread (cheap line mod) on another forum to come up with an idea for you. My understanding is SS can not be soldered which may be problematic....just not sure as I haven't attempted making my own genisis. Hopefully Jolly will jump in here.
Casey, you are reading a short as in less the .5Ω? You coil should read about 1.5Ω if 32g kanthal. If it is <1Ω problems with shorts, if it is >3Ω problems with connections. If it is LOW (<1Ω), try bringing it out of the center hole a bit, it may be your wick is actually to far down and hitting the battery connector and shorting it.
Also, see that rough edge of your mesh in the picture? those little edges are troublesome sometimes causing short issues also... I think one of the videos I posted (iGetchya's) talks about folding it before rolling to prevent that... But this is just a tidbit, not necessarily an issue.
As far as replacing the copper, I use silver wire, not stainless. I have also used sewing needles in the past, but don't find that option very effective. As far as taking yours apart to replace them or do anything, imo it wouldn't be difficult the way I build them (the base and battery connect literally slide right out and the top pops off so you can service the tank and electrodes), but I have no idea how that one is built and therefore can't really help you. Sorry.

I appreciate your help. I don't know about ss needeles either. What I really needs is .999 silver. But again, I don't know if I can get these electrodes out. Hopefully Jolly will get back to me. I haven't a clue why my meter is ready nothing at all.

I think we posted @ the same time

The wick is short so it is not touching the bottom. I've seen that video where the guy folds the edge but it didn't seem important so I didn't do that. I really don't see who that could be causing a short. Could the wick be touching the electrode inside the tank and cause a short? It's really hard to see inside the tank so see if the wick is going straight down or touching that electrode. Everything on top looks like it should so I don't know what more I can do but start all over again. Damn I'm getting tired of this.

I don't have your meter in my hands, so hard for to tell what is going on. Is it reading OPEN (as in NOTHING) or is it reading ~.3Ω, which is a short?
It could very well be touching the electrode and shorting. Are they insulated? I insulate the positive, but no telling what the builder did on yours... If you start over, fist thing I would do when I got the wick/coil out is check the electrodes with a meter. Make sure you have connectivity from your center post on the 510 connection to the + electrode up top, ,make sure the same for ground to - electrode, and then make sure they are not shorted to each other. If it is actually an open, could be the electrode broke inside at the solder connection, which means tearing it apart.
